Het Woonbootmuseum is gevestigd op de "Hendrika Maria",
een voormalig vrachtschip dat in 1914 werd gebouwd. Tot de jaren zestig
van de vorige eeuw werd er met het schip vooral zand en grind vervoerd.
Daarna werd zij omgebouwd tot woonboot.
Het historisch uiterlijk van het schip is daarbij bewaard
gebleven. De "Hendrika Maria" is ruim twintig jaar bewoond geweest. Nu
lijkt het net alsof de bewoners alleen even weg zijn voor een boodschap.

Welcome on board of the Houseboatmuseum. Finally there
is the opportunity to experience how special it is, to live in a houseboat
in the centre of Amsterdam. You can see how this former commercial sailing
ship has been converted into a comfortable living space, provided with
all conveniences. You will be amazed about the the space and comfort aboard.
The Houseboat Museum is situated on the "Hendrika Maria",
a former freighter, built in 1914. Up and till the 1960s the boat primarily
transported sand and gravel, after which time it was converted into a houseboat;
whilst maintaining its outward historic appearance. The "Hendrika Maria"
has housed people for more than twenty years now. In fact, nowadays it
looks like the owners have just popped out to the shops.
Opening hours:
“Summer season”: March – October :
Tuesday through Sunday 11 am – 5 pm.
“Winter season” : November – February : Friday
Saturday – Sunday 11 am – 5 pm.
Closed: Jan 1, (week no 2,3 and 4), April 30, December
25,26 and 31.
