The Kelsey Museum
The Kelsey Museum is housed in Newberry Hall, located at 434 South State
Street.Originally built as a home for the Student Christian Association,
it was begun in 1888 and completed in 1891.
The Kelsey Museum houses a collection of nearly 100,000 objects from
the civilizations of the Mediterranean. A selection of these artifacts
are featured in two permanent galleries: Egypt and the Ancient Near East,
and Greece • Etruria • Rome, 5000 BC - AD 900, as well as in a gallery
with annual changing exhibitions.
The museum also sponsors research, educational programs for children, oversees
fieldwork projects, and serves as the home for the Interdepartmental Program
in Classical Art and Archaeology.
The Kelsey Museum of Archaeology is pleased to announce that we will
soon undertake a renovation and expansion project.
We expect to break ground in 2006 and to complete the construction
phase of our project in 2008. The project includes the construction
of a new wing of the museum dedicated to collections storage and display;
there will also be a major reorganization and renovation of the historic
Newberry Hall building that currently houses all the Kelsey’s activities.

Saturday and Sunday: 1:00 to 4:00 PM
There is no admission charge, although donations are accepted.
